Principal Purpose of Role:
- To support in the day-to-day running of the residential home and supervision of Residential Care Assistants in carrying out their duties as a team.
- To assist in pursuing and maintaining an appropriate quality assurance and service users care.
- To assist the Manager in ordering /monitoring of medication
- Ensuring ISS, Plan of care and Health Plans are monitored and appraised regularly.
Duties:

- To ensure that Individual Service Statements are drawn up, relevant and sensitive to the needs of service users – taking into account their cultural and ethnic backgrounds, gender, religion, sexuality, disability and age: to initiate change in lien with needs, in consultation with the Manager and work team members;
- To monitor progress of service users by convening regular internal review meeting and to ensure that correspondence and reports are concise, accurate, objective, and up-to-date; where necessary, to prepare detailed reports for the manager.
- To adopt working practices consistent with to Care Management, multi-professional working and inter-agency co-operation; to communicate effectively with colleagues in hospital, day and field services, and all other agencies and individual relevant to the service users, so as to ensure a responsive and reliable co-ordinated support;
- To be involved in the intake of prospective services; to draw up appropriate ISSs, Plan of Care and Health Plan and subsequent Appraisal Reports; to advise Social Worker or other relevant professionals with regard to the progress of Service User.
- To assist in administering Petty Cash control and collection of fees.
- To assume responsibility for the home in the absence of the manager and to provide duty cover for Care Assistants in their absence.
- To ensure that Service Users are informed of the complaint channels available and that their complaint/comments/suggestions are attended to and brought to the attention of the Manager.
- To ensure service users to participate at all levels of the homes management and activities for user empowerment.
- To undertake training courses as agreed by the Manager
- To attend and actively participate in staff meetings and management team meetings.
- To be available for supervision at least on a bi monthly basis, according to the level of experience and need;
- To comply with the Company Health and Safety Policy
- To carry out any other duties that may reasonably fall within the purview of the post.
Special Conditions:
- This post holder is initially based at one of the main care home locations and is required to work in other establishments as arranged or for back up purposes.
- The post is residential based and required to work full time 30 hours per week on average in a rota, plus on call duty, evening/weekend/bank holiday cover.
- The job description is subject to modification or regularly updating to keep in line with Policy development and practice requirement.
